• 생태적특징

    연안에도 서식하지만 외양에서도 발견되며, 외양성 어류에 가깝다. 구애 시기와 산란기에 쌍을 이루는 특징이 있다.

• 형태적특징

    몸은 좌우로 측편되어 있으며 비늘이 없고, 감각공이 잘 발달되어 있다. 새개골 가장자리에 짧은 가시가 하나 있으며 꼬리지느러미 끝은 약간 오목하다. 몸은 전반적으로 연한 황갈색을 띤다.
